Their Take:

Corey Axt wrote this song over ten years ago. It has probably been played at just about every Faceship show over those years, and it was the first song out of the eleven we recorded when we went into the studio for the first time in the summer of 2019. The majority of what you hear was recorded live in a single room, and Corey's vocals were actually the very first vocal take recorded all week. It just made sense for this to be the first release from the upcoming full-length album. We have to give so much credit to Zach Fichter for helping us capture the energy of a real-life Faceship show on record, and just making it sound really great. After so many listens over six months during the mixing process, I still get emotional when I hear it, and we are proud to put this out into the world.

Our Take: 

Ten years in the making, and it paid off. With notes and tones rising and falling within this all-encompassing, ethereal atmosphere, listening to this song quickly puts us into a trance. It’s like the soundtrack to a Salvador Dali painting – there’s sadness and there’s peace, you’re engrossed and engaged but also slightly unnerved, and overall, you just can’t shake it from your mind. The roots of this release may be over a decade old, but this hypnotizing urgency, this bizarre palate of conflicting and even haunting feelings and sentiments, feels all to appropriate for the times we’re living in now…
